Contrary to popular belief I haven't always been this super confident person.
Its actually quite the opposite.
Growing up everyone else made it look easy to be cool and confident while I was the goofy girl who didn't quite have it all together. I was a nerd, I was in the band, I was a tomboy...which of course led to me getting made fun of by all the neighborhood kids.
I'll spare you the pictures, but just imagine braces, oversized jeans, baseball socks and jerseys...I was pretty much a mess.
Confidence was something I had to learn and I'm still learning but there are 5 tips that have helped me make my way to a more confident me.
I've partnered with Dove on this post, to my experience with their product!
All opinions are my own.
1) Don't Sweat The Small Stuff
Even though we all want everything to be perfect, it won't be and confidence begins where an attempt at perfection fails. Its all about holding your head high and walking in a room like you own the place even if everything isn't exactly how you imagined it to be.
On the the literal side of things being someone who has issues with anxiety, I know first hand that when things aren't perfect you can LITERALLY sweat the small stuff.
At times Every. Little. Thing. can fill me with anxiety and cause me to sweat like crazy. My hands, my feet, under my arms, my back...when I start to panic it can get intense.
But when things get sweaty Dove has been keeping me covered, their Dry Spay Antiperspirant go's on dry instantly so I never have to worry about any extra moisture and keeps me smelling fresh all day even through the worst panic attacks.
My biggest fear when public speaking and trying to pull through an attack is someone else noticing how nervous I am from sweat stains but with my Dove Dry Spray I don't have to worry at all.
Remember, nothing in life is perfect so you don't have to be either.
2) Shine In Your Own Lane
It easy to get caught up in the hype of whats popular but in a time where everyone is trying to be like everyone else, being you is what will really make you stand out.
Everyone has something that they are good at, maybe you make others laugh, you're an amazing artist or maybe you're really good at math. No matter what your strength is, use it to your advantage. Whatever makes you unique practice and hone that craft be unapologetically you. Once you're comfortable with who you are your unique ability will open more doors than you can imagine and confidence will build behind something that you may have thought made you "weird".
I've always been the silly girl who liked to make people laugh and give advice, never would I have imagined that years down the line that would be part of my career. Since starting my youtube & blog I've never done anything out of the ordinary, I've always just been me. At first I was shy about it but the more I was me the more people loved it and the more confident I became.
There is no need to try to be anything your not, the right things will be attracted to the real you.
3) Fake It Till You Make It
Confidence isn't some magic trait thats just going to happen over night. Truth is, it takes time to build confidence but the MAJOR KEY is to not let anyone know you're not super confident.
Thats right. Fake it till you make it.
No matter what you're doing, hold your head high, stand up straight, speak up when you know you're right and put yourself out there.
The best think you can do is not not to give anyone any reason to doubt that you are not confident. The more you practice being confident, the easier it will become to believe it and it will come naturally.
4) Look Good Feel Good
I'm a firm believer in the idea that if you look good you feel good.
Anytime I'm looking to feel super confident I start with my what I'm wearing. I pick out the perfect underwear, pair it with a great outfit (normally something black because its my favorite) and top it all off with a beat face and some bomb hair.
The next thing I know, I'm feeling pretty damn good about myself.
But what makes me feel even better is not having to worry about deodorant marks on my outfits because nothing can ruin a confident moment then embarrassing white stains from slipping on your clothes that you don't notice until its too late.
With Dove's Dry Spray that worry is pretty much none existant because it goes on invisible. Ive been using it for the past week and haven't had a mishap yet. I love not having to do the double take before leaving the house or the frantic search for a new outfit because I can't get rid of the deodorant stains on the one I just put on.
Being a long time Dove user their Dry spray is really just took my love for their deodorant to the next level, not to mention that the chamomile fragrance Dry Spray smells amazing and a little goes a long way! If you love wearing black and you haven't already tried it you NEED to hit up your local Target ASAP and grab it.
You'll thank me later and remember looking good without any worries is the ultimate confidence booster.
5) Personal Pep Talks
Have you ever heard the term be your own biggest cheerleader?
Well there really is something to that idea, sometimes when you're trying to build your confidence you have to toot your own horn a little bit and remind yourself why you're so bomb.
The best way I've found to do that is to give yourself a pep talk. I like to do it in the morning before work while I'm getting ready.
I'll stand in my bathroom, look myself in the mirror and repeat positive affirmations and thoughts to myself. It could be anything from "you're beautiful" to "you're going to have a great day" and sometimes ill even sneak in a few other things like "you're going to find a thousand dollars".
The latter of which rarely happens but most other things work out lol.
The most important thing to remember during your personal pep talk's is to remain positive and inspiring there is power in the words you speak and when building confidence we want positive vibes only.
I hope these 5 tips help you as you work on boosting your confidence. If you have any confidence boosting tips be sure to leave them in the comments below and share with other Pretty Girl readers! Lets all help each other be our best and most confident selves =)
